Admissions

Applying for a place at the Rosary Catholic Primary School

The Rosary Catholic Primary School has a distinctive Catholic ethos, which is at the heart of the school and provides an inclusive, caring and supportive environment, where children learn and flourish in a setting shaped by Christian values.  Although Catholic children have priority of admission, the Governing Body also welcomes applications from all families, whatever their background; we just ask that parents and pupils respect the Christian ethos of our school and its importance to our community.

If your child will be starting school in September 2019 and you would like a place at this school, you will need to apply through Gloucestershire Local Authority, who normally contact parents directly by post with information on the Admissions process and a list of schools .

You should have received this information by early November; if not, please contact Gloucestershire County Council at Shire Hall, Gloucester on (01452) 425407 or via email: school.admissions@gloucestershire.gov.uk

Visits to the Rosary School are always welcome, and we will ask parents considering us for a place for their child to complete a Supplementary Information form, which is used to ‘rank’ applicants according to our Admission criteria. (These criteria are listed in our Admissions Policies below.)

Please contact the school office to make an appointment to visit the school on (01453) 762774 or admin@rosary.gloucs.sch.uk

Below are links to our current admissions policy for In Year Admissions (2018 - 2019) and the policy for admissions for/from September 2019 (2019-20).

1Under the School Admissions (Admission Arrangements and Co-ordination of Admission Arrangements ) (England)  Regulations  2012  an application is  made  in the  ‘normal  admissions  round’  if  it  is  not  a ‘late application’ or an ‘in-year application’:
2 An application is a ‘late’ application if it is for the admission of a child to a relevant age group; it is submitted before the first day of the school term of the admission year; and a determination relating to the application is not made by an authority on or before the offer date. The ‘relevant age group’ is the age group at which pupils are or will normally be admitted to the school e.g. reception or year 7 ( Section 142 of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998).
3An application is an ‘in-year’ application if it is for the admission of a child to a relevant age group and it is submitted on or after the first day of the first school term of the admission year, or it is for the admission of a child to an age group other than a relevant age group.
