Supporting the learning of your child at home:

This is the final term of Year 1 before the children move into Year 2! Below I have suggested some ways in which you can help to support them with their learning.

  • Reading their reading books and other books at home. DAILY is preferable. Talk about these books and encourage the children to talk about the feelings and actions of different characters and to predict what might happen next.
  • Practise reading and spelling common exception words. You can find the Year 1 list here.
  • Practise phonics sounds and words. Packs will be sent home after the Easter holidays.
  • Support the children with their homework tasks. It really helps them to enjoy and share their topic with you!
