Welcome to Reception Class

Its been a great start and the children are settling well. Thank you for all your support in the mornings and prompt pick ups!

The children are working hard this term learning all the singles phonic sounds:

s a t p i n m d g o c k ck e u r h b j f ff l ll v w x y z zz q qu

We will be moving on to the diagraphs ( two letters making one sound) after Christmas.

Please continue to work with your child (if they aren't to tired) on their reading, words and sound sheets.

Also this term we are:

  • building on the children's independence
  • writing  names
  • writing CVC words
  • learning number facts up to 5
  • looking at the weather changes with Autumn and Winter
  • shapes and sizes
  • the creation story
  • St Francis of Assisi
  • Diwali
  • Team building
  • Animals and humans
  • all about church and meeting Father Gary
  • Movement in PE
  • Advent and Nativity

Please remember to have books ready in book bags for reading and changing on Fridays and PE kits in school for Tuesdays.

Our class saint this year is St Francis of Assisi

We are still finding many clothing items without names on! It is really tricky to match owners to items when they all look the same. Please check your child's uniform as they can fall off or wash out. Thanks

I have added the homework words for you to use at home.

Notes to parents:

  • We will be doing regular PE so please ensure your child has a full kit in school all the time with daps/trainers.
  • Please continue to read with your child often and record in the yellow diary.
  • Bring all reading books back on Thursdays to change on Friday.
  • When the bell for 8:50 has gone, the door will be shut and you will need to come in through the office.
  • We are doing more "early bird" learning at 8:40 when the first bell goes, if your child is late they miss out on this extra learning time.
